GREAT GATSBY

In the movie’s first big party at Gatsby’s mansion, the music, colours and camera work all show a world that looks exciting on the surface but feels empty underneath. The music sets this tone right away. Instead of sticking to old-fashioned 1920s jazz, the film mixes in modern songs, making the party feel loud, wild and over the top. It does not feel like people are truly having fun, they just seem caught up in the noise and trying to impress whoever walks by. The camera adds to this feeling. It zooms through the crowd, swings across the dance floor and jumps quickly from group to group without stopping. This makes the party feel rushed and chaotic, like everything is happening too fast to really mean anything. People are dancing and laughing but it all feels like a distraction from how bored or unhappy they might actually be. The colours in the mansion are also extreme, gold everywhere, bright blues, sparkling lights and over the top decorations. It all looks huge and magical at first...

money can’t buy happiness but it can buy plane tickets!

just thinking about that kind of money feels unreal. it is the sort of number that grabs your brain, tosses logic aside and sends your imagination racing through every wild fantasy it can dream up. if i ever had a million dollars in my account, i know exactly what i would do. pack my bags and hop on a plane. i would be out exploring the world, trying new foods, seeing new places and living it up every chance i get. i would want to do everything i have ever dreamed of, walk through the streets of rome, watch the sunset in santorini, see the northern lights in iceland, take a full on europe trip, explore the wild in south africa, dive into the nightlife of new york city and soak up the party vibes in ibiza. i would not hold back for a second. i would stay in the most beautiful places i could find and really dive into every culture i came across, even if i had no clue what i was doing. that is just the dreamer in me, ready for adventure and probably packing way too much. but once the exci...

Why Poor Village Families Cannot Get Out of Debt

Village life might look peaceful from the outside. You see green fields, small homes, and quiet roads. But for many poor families, it is a daily struggle just to make ends meet. Even though the government says they are helping with loans and schemes, the truth is, that help rarely reaches the ones who need it most. One big reason is caste. In many villages, people from higher castes control everything. If you are from a lower caste like Dalit or tribal, you are often pushed aside, treated badly, or even asked to pay bribes just to get basic help. It is unfair, but it still happens. Being poor adds more pain. Rich villagers know the system. They know who to talk to and how to get what they want. But poor people do not understand all the rules, cannot afford travel, and are often tricked. Sometimes they get a loan, but only part of it. Imagine borrowing eight thousand rupees and receiving only five thousand. Yet they still have to repay the full amount with interest. In faraway tribal ar...

On Buying, Selling and Being Human

Today we buy things with a simple tap, click or swipe, often without a second thought. Shopping has become so fast and effortless that it feels automatic. But in the middle of all this convenience, we have lost something valuable. Buying and selling were not always just about profit. They were once about people, relationships and purpose. In his poem “On Buying and Selling,” Kahlil Gibran talks about something simple but important. Reading his words feels like stopping for a moment in a noisy market and suddenly seeing things in a new way. He shows us that buying and selling is not just about money or things. It is really about people. It’s about one person giving something with honesty and another person accepting it with trust. Every time we trade, whether it’s something big or small, there is a bit of care, respect and understanding shared between the two. That’s what makes it truly special. Gibran doesn’t just write poetry. He shares simple truths that really make you think. He beg...

The value of everyday workers

Upon reading Greg Mankiw’s  Defending the One Percent , I was left feeling a bit confused. I totally get his point, some people come up with brilliant ideas, take big risks and build businesses that give jobs to others. It’s fair that they are rewarded for that. But at the same time, the way he talks about it feels too focused on numbers, money and how the system works on paper. But what about the people who work long hours, earn minimum wages and still help keep everything running smoothly? It felt like their efforts did not really matter in his world. Then I watched the documentary " Glas" , and it made me think deeper. Watching the glassblowers put so much care, skill and creativity into every piece, they were not just doing their job, they were pouring their soul into their craft. And then came the machines. Yes, they were fast and efficient but every piece they produced looked the same perfect but empty. It really made me wonder, are we losing something when we only care...

WHY IS OUR OBSESSION WITH ECONOMIC GROWTH DEADLY?

Image
BLOG - The video  "our obsession with economic growth is deadly"  shares a powerful message. It shows how always trying to grow the economy is actually hurting people and the planet. We usually think that a bigger economy is a good thing, but the video explains that it also leads to more pollution, climate change, and a bigger gap between rich and poor. The experts in the video explain that the way we measure progress mostly through GDP completely overlooks what truly matters in life, such as clean air, unpaid care work or people's happiness and wellbeing.  This video encourages us to rethink what progress means. Therefore a good life is not about a larger economy but about creating a better world for everyone .
